ABOUT US AND THE AUCTION

Food For Thought programs support over 500 men, women and children from Sonoma County who have disabling HIV/AIDS. All programs, which include weekly food and household supplies, vitamins and minerals, high calorie nutritional supplements, prepared meals, and nutritional counseling, are provided to clients free of charge.

Despite hopeful news in the media about AIDS treatments, the demand for our services continues to increase. In 1992, the Food Bank filled 4,250 orders. In 2003, over 9,000 grocery orders were filled, and in 2006 that number rose to 11,500. Volunteers delivered 35% of these orders to clients unable to leave their homes.

The Food Bank operates with a paid staff of only five and the help of over 480 hardworking volunteers who deliver grocery orders, work at the food bank, collect food at local grocery stores, and help at events.

Food for Thought is a very efficiently run organization with fundraising and administrative expenses of less than 10%.
